I made this point at the conference over the weekend, but a couple of other conversations prompt me to put it here.
King Saul was the request of the people, but not of God. George Washington thankfully resisted the request of the people to be king and chose instead to be a term-limited president.
Some look again for heroes like a Reagan or an early version of Gingrich to emerge, but aren't we to have a government of the people?
Freedom requires that we not look for human leaders, but rather short-term, temporary representatives with limited powers.
We can never attain freedom if we wait for a leader, so let's change our expectations.
